ARRGGHH!!!.....I suppose her finger WASN'T on the trigger?

it could be a mechanical failure, but I seriously doubt it....

Maybe now she will remember to keep her booger picker off of the boom switch. Although it is a horrible way to learn that.

I don't know LEO procedure but do some(or all) officers load and unload their service pistols on a regular basis? I hate to see anyone injured with their own pistol and maybe it was a freak negligent discharge. Are officers that have these ND's required to take any remedial training classes even though I'm sure it is a self-correcting error.

If I go into an area that prohibits guns (fed bld, schools, etc.), I commonly lock my loaded pistol into a safe box and look to park off grounds. I chamber check my pistols daily when I retrieve them from out of sight, off of my person locations.

I'm sure most of you do the same while following USR's #2 and 3.

Or better still, "when she negligently discharged it."

Yes, more grammatically correct. I just dont like the term 'accident' when referring to NDs. An accidental discharge is when something mechanical lets go, like for whatever reason the trigger sear snaps in half on a cocked pistol and sets it off with no outside operator effort, or when a non-drop-safe firearm is dropped and goes off. Im fairly sure the PD issues drop-safe only firearms, and theres no reason to be loading a cocked striker-fired pistol with the safety off.
