Default Officials: Man interrupts store robbery, kills attacker

Texans are spared the cost of 1 trial at least.

A man shot and killed a suspected armed robber Thursday during a gun battle in a northeast Harris County shopping center parking lot.

The 28-year-old man, a former Marine, was eating lunch about 12:30 p.m. when he saw two suspicious men outside a Game Stop store along Wallisville near the East Sam Houston Tollway, authorities said.

"He saw them get out of their car and slip bandanas over their faces," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The veteran, who has not been identified, saw the men open the trunk of their car then dash inside the store. Minutes later, one ran out carrying several video game systems in his arms.

The other suspected robber remained in the store and was demanding cash from customers, deputies said.

The veteran, who has a concealed handgun license, went to his pickup truck and pulled out a semi-automatic pistol then told a bystander to call 911, deputies said.

He took cover behind his pickup truck as the two men left the store. Deputies said one of the men then pointed a pistol at him.

"At that point, the veteran raised his gun and fired," Gilliland said.

Deputies said about 10 rounds were fired during the gunfight.

The suspected armed robber was struck by gunfire but managed to get inside the car, an older model Toyota Corolla, where he died.

"The second suspect just threw everything down and ran," Gilliland said.

He was soon captured outside a nearby fast-food restaurant, deputies said.

    No other injuries were reported.

"There were a lot of shaken-up patrons and store employees, of course," Gilliland said.

Some of the buildings in the shopping center were hit by stray rounds, deputies said.

Officials will present the case to the Harris County grand jury, recommending no charges be filed, authorities said.

Again the media fails to answer the questions we all want to know--what make, model, and calibers were the guns; who fired how many shots; and where and how many times was the recently departed shot.

Vivid print journalism is as dead as that robber.

Default U. S. Marine Veteran With Carry Permit Drops Armed Robber

“Ooh-rah!” U. S. Marine Veteran With Carry Permit Drops Armed Robber

Two armed robbers attempted to hold up the wrong Gamestop video game store in Harris County, Texas:

It all happened shortly after noon on Wallisville Road near Beltway 8. According to investigators, the two men attempted to rob a Game Stop store when they were stopped by the 28-year-old U.S. Marine.

The Marine was eating at a restaurant next door when he saw two men pull up to the Game Stop wearing hoodies and bandanas. He yelled for someone to dial 911, and then he grabbed his concealed weapon out of his truck.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, that’s when one of the suspects pointed a gun at him.

One of the suspects was fatally shot. The second suspect got away but was found later and taken into custody.

The only thing I'm a little disappointed by is the fact he had to go all the way back to his truck to get his firearm.

I don't understand. Why would any one commit armed robbery in Texas. Somebody is going to have a firearm there. I would go to Cali or Chicago or any other place that bans firearms. Well, thank God for stupid criminals.

Plus who robs a Game Stop? Haven't these thugs heard of Willie Sutton?

Only fault I can find is that he had to go to his truck to get his gun. Other than that, good job Marine!

It may be that Karma was at work. Here is an update from the main story.

An interesting side-note to the main story is a claim made in the comments of the story. If this young woman’s story is true, then the Marine served up cosmic justice for a previous murder.
