applying for an LTCF in Washington County
I am applying for my LTCF, was gonna go today but I was running late, anyway I just moved back to Washington County after being in state college and the philly area (lansdale pa) for about 11 years so i lost contact with alot of people back here, anyways my new neighbors and his wife agreed to be references but I feel kind funny about listing the them both on the app.... The application say that you cannot use family as references but can i use my brother in law who lives the state of california. The application doesn't state that the person needs to live in washington county or that matter the state of pa
thanks
Dan

Re: applying for an LTCF in Washington County
you just need references doesnt matter where they live. washington county sheriff 's office is very easy to deal with. drop your app at the office get your picture taken . sheriff does background check , mails your ltcf within 3 to 5 days . used to be issued the same day .

But they probably have no fiscal ability to do it.
If you ask me (which you didn't, I know), out of state licenses should be issued by the State Police. Why should a county bear the costs of investigating and issuing licenses to out of staters?
PSP would also be better equipped to do it by mail and eliminate the variation between counties.

Re: applying for an LTCF in Washington County
Well the applicant pays the fee.
Wether or not that covers the cost to the county is completely different.
How much of that $20 goes to the sheriff.
How much staff is devoted to the LTCF unit?
Does that $20 cover the wages and benefits of the staff?
I cannot answer that, I am not familiar with the budgets of each county sheriff office. If it is priced anything like the PICS check, then it is not a profit generating function. (PICS loses substantial money every year. I think it would have to charge $12 to break even.
