pollishing a turd?
I've had a bit of a love affair with a bitone xdm but she's not the one for me.
I'm eyeing up a glock again, but i want my glock to be different. I would like to achieve the bitone look brushed stainless that the xdm has on the glock slide.
I know most of you wouldn't do it and i'm ruining a perfectly good slide. Glock will refinish the slide if i destroy it. They will of course charge me for my stupidity.
I do not want a mirror polish i just want to remove the black coating thats applied to help protect the tenifer finish of the slide.
How would you go about this.
I am thinking doing it by hand with remoil ans steel wool very fine or extremely fine sand paper. if you all have any other suggestions please let me know.

Re: pollishing a turd?
Get ahold of a Talo edition Glock or send the slide of a black Glock off to have it Cerakoted. I would not just polish the slide because removing the finish will increased the chance of rust.
The "tenifer" is the not the finish. It is a heat treatment process done to the slide to increase surface hardness and help increase corrosion resistance. You will have to take a good amount of material off of the slide to get past that.

Re: pollishing a turd?
You know there are some models with a nickel coated slide option right?

Re: pollishing a turd?
IIRC my friend soaked his Glock slide in Vinegar. The finished product looked really nice.
I soaked a Rifle barrel in Vinegar and stripped it to bare metal in no time. Since the finish was going to be camo, I did not put on a fancy Finish, just spray paint.Aggies Coach Really ??? Take off the tin foil bro.
