I got my first gobbler today!!!!!

I took this guy with my bow at 39yds today around 5pm. I had been hearing him gobble and watching him strut for almost an hour before he came in to range.

Prior to today, I'd never been able to get a gobbler. (I got a few hens over the years) I'm beyond excited at the moment....

Stats:

6" beard
5/8" spurs
22 pounds

Not the biggest bird but I'll take it.

I wish that were my yard.... My buddy has 10 acres and his land buts up against state game lands in Monroe County. Which, also happens to be the only place I could hunt and find gobblers. My other hunting spots had little or no signs of turkey.

I got the breasts cut up into meal servings and the legs/thighs are soaking in a brine till tomorrow.... then they go in the smoker.

Nice. Hope you enjoy every bite. Must be awsome eating something you harvested on your own. I just started hunting this year and I hope to get something sooner rather than later.
