How to make a cheap savage mkii into a tack driver.
This will be a ongoing project to show you how to easily make a savage mark ii F 'no accu trigger' into a smooth as butter tack driver. The only money spent will be in threading the barrel, scope mount rings and scope. Same thing can be done to the accu trigger model minus the trigger job I will show you in the next few days.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for your screw up, if you can not do something like this then don't attempt it. If you don't have the proper tools then buy them, they are fairly cheap!
Start off with a savage mk ii bought locally for cheap $150.
Remove action from stock and you will see two pins behind the barrel towards the front bottom of the reciver.
Place the action in a vise with barrel blocks, the trigger group should be left side up.
Remove the front 'roll pin' with a punch and then remove the front screw that the pin holds in place.
Drift out the rear solid pin and then gently tug on the barrel. If it doesnot slide out then confirm you followed the steps. If so then tap the barrel off with a wooden dowel from the reciver end.
You will end up with this.
More goodness to come over the next few days/weeks.

I took mine out of the box. That was all it took.

Well it's like this NathanB, if you like a gritty action and a crappy 6.7 lb trigger pull with tons of creep then you would be happy with this gun. I am out for improvement and have done this probably 15 or so times in the past. If your interested in finding out how to improve a decent design then keep up with the updates I will be providing.

I'm curious as to how you realign and properly headspace the barrel after threading it.
I'll try to keep up with this thread as per I might try it.
