    Default Brass flying too far???

What can I do to tone down how far the brass flies from a 1911. Right now casings are landing 15ft away. I am using the stock spring that came with a Gold Cup Trophy (heavier spring, not the green one for SWC)...Thx

What is the round count on the recoil spring? Are these hot loads?

Sounds like it is functioning fine. I wouldn't mess with it unless you are getting serious "slide slap" from an under powered spring.

Is there such a thing as erect wristing? Lol.

Agreed with above poster, seems to function fine and not erratic.

I have around 800 rounds through it, all just factory ball ammo. Would going a pound or two up in a recoil spring help or not. I realize going too high will cause the pistol to not function right, just wondering if anyone else has experimented with different spring weights before I go out and buy some

A 1911 should eject brass 10-15' at the 3 to 5 oclock position in a consistant pattern.

If it does this all is well.

Post again if brass is going all over the place. The nice thing about the 1911 is it is easly to diagnose a few different issues just looking at how it ejects.

Is your girl friend/wife being annoyed of being your brass catcher? I know my wife gives me dirty looks from time to time when she's next to me.

I've read on 1911 blogs that the ejection distance can be a gauge re spring choice. Under 3 feet, needs lighter spring, over 8 feet needs heavier spring. Those distances can become a hot discussion...just passing it on. I'd say the distance thrown would be secondary to the pistol operating correctly and that the frame is not being battered unnecessarily. The 3 to 5 o'clock pattern checks the timing/extractor/ejector tune.

Have you considered trying a frame buffer? It may soften the throw a little depending on the ejector contact/slide travel relationship.
