Laws against vehicle secret compartments
Ohio has it. Others have it in the works or bills in the house...including Penna.

So, if you ever contemplated making a compartment to avoid discovery/loss of a firearm during a burglary of the vehicle...better check the law.
The question arises.... compartment was legal when you did it, suddenly you are a criminal.
That's what happened to this man:

Re: Laws against vehicle secret compartments
Since a car is private property, I can envision they will eventually expanded it to your home.
Since ignorance of the law is no excuse, it would be a big help for law abiding citizens to have the sheriff dept. publish any new laws pertaining to firearms on their website so we can check in every so often. Also. Access to existing laws for a search.

Re: Laws against vehicle secret compartments
Key words being "KNOWINGLY" and "SECRET" compartment. If its a secret compartment then nobody should be able to easily find it. Unless I am missing something here most car stops don't involve tearing your car apart for a traffic violation. If your car smells like a pot farm or a canine goes into seizures after sniffing your car then you have bigger problems than a secret compartment.
From the article I get that the idiot was using his car as a carry vehicle that stunk of past product which triggered the search. The cops found nothing got pissed and here we are. As for the knowingly. it has to be proven that you knew about the compartment. Hell many cars have voids in them and the cops know about them , specially the border cops.
Soccer mom taking the kids to the game is going to attract much different attention rather than two knuckleheads smoking a joint in a lawnmower car with a fart can playing their boom box at 100% with dark night window tinting drifting into the oncoming lane or going 90 on I-80 with a headlight/taillight, no fender, cracked windshield no inspection or registration.

Drugs are bad. It's for the children. If you aren't doing anything wrong you have nothing to hide.
Isn't it wonderful what our statist politicians, judges, etc. on both sides have wrought.
