Can you think of any specific instance where, in the face of direct "on-point" SCOTUS constitutional rulings, that state legislation was passed in spite of and contrary to the stare decisis? That survived judicial scrutiny?

One of the recent SAFE Act judges ruled that the law should stand despite admitting that it placed undue burden on gun owners, infringes on the Second Amendment AND went against SCOTUS precedent. In the name of public safety and interest (IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!).
