Default New Colt Anniversary 1911 Tier III: Shoot it or not???

Picked this up today as a replacement for my M1991A1 I had to sell last year to help pay for medical bills. Bought it to partly be a collectible and what I really wanted the M1991A1 to be, a good WWI/WWII replica. This is better, in my book.

Box came w/o the 100 year anniversary card some came with, but at least I had the 2011 Colt catalog and price sheet. I had read on the net on various forums that some people did not get one with theirs, not much I could do about it.

Question is should I shoot the thing or not? I am almost afraid to break it down and accidentally put an "idiot mark" on it.

Next up will likely be the New Agent.

Shoot it, that's what it was made for. Not shooting it is like owning a beautiful classic car that you won't drive because you only bought it to look at.

If I have a gun I do not shoot, I get rid of it.

I have a bunch of firearms I've never shot. So I'm OK with that mindset.

I would not shoot that gun. Yet. It is beautiful.

Imagine you are eighteen years old again. You live with a beautiful virgin who was built for sex. What's the chances of you leaving her be so she stays perfect forever? Shoot it.....like as soon as possible.

Shoot it, unless you're looking at it as an investment. I have a Lew Horton Colt that I view as such, and have never even racked the slide more than 5 times let alone shot it.

Was considering it as a potential investment. Granted, some of the original orders are apparently being fulfilled even now, which is why some are still available, but from what I can gather, only 7500 of these will be made.

As many on here have already stated, there is a lot of sentiment to just shoot it. Many others who've purchased these feel the same. I know many of my other used Colt's have appreciated in value (or the dollar has depreciated, possibly), to such a point where each one is now worth more used than what I paid for them new 15 years ago.

Guess the debate I'm having is to keep it pristine and keep as a nice piece of history and family collectible, or as some said, enjoy the hell out of it and shoot it.

Do you have any other .45's that you do shoot?

This one seems like a safe queen / investment to me, I'd buy a Tisas, RIA, or even a Taurus 1911 and shoot the snot out of it, while leaving this one alone.

On the other hand, what's the point in having it ? Are you planning to sell it some day to fund other firearms or something?

Otherwise, having a gun that you don't shoot is wasteful (unless you are buying them for your kids - - yeah, THAT'S IT ! I'm buying them for my kids !!!)

Every gun gets shot at the factory. Holsters wear the finish and lots of handling and not wiping down with oiled rag. I fall in the middle, don't shoot the snot out of it, but don't never shoot it either. You are here only once and for a short time, enjoy what you can while you can.

I wouldn't have a problem shooting that one...Seems like there were a ton made as Clyde Armory still lists them as in stock on their website, and they can generally be picked up for around 1k.
