I hate these things. I do not need one & will NOT buy one.

First time I saw one I thought I liked it, but my dad told me to not like them. So now I don't.

On the other hand... What kind of accuracy and performance could I expect from the 454/45 version with 2 1/2" barrel?

I would be shooting .45 from it, not 454. Oh, I mean IF I bought one, which would be really silly since I don't like them. Much.

I did see (through searching this site) that Galco makes a nice holster for it. Maybe I should just buy the holster & forget it?

All kidding aside I loved that revolver the first time I saw one. Just looking for opinions on accuracy, etc. I confess that all the pistols in my safe are more accurate than I am.

I keep looking at the dimensions and trying to find other revolvers to compare it to.

What do you use yours for? OC on a daily basis? Do you find it too big or too heavy? What holster do you use?

I am used to Glocks & such. Nothing nearly that big.

I picked up one chambered in .454 Casull and it makes me happy
I've only gotten to shoot the full power loads out of her once thus far (.45 Colt the other times) but she seemed to group just fine when I didn't flinch. Sorry, no targets laying around to measure. Get one, it punishes your hand a bit but the adrenaline kick is definitely worth it.

I have a 44 Mag Alaskan. It was love at first sight.
I went looking for a Beretta 92 or 90-two. but I saw two Alaskans 454 and 44. I liked the fluted cylinder better.

At the time only Ruger sold holsters for it, I got the shoulder rig. It works for me. I've wore it on a couple of hikes had no issues with the rig.
For a while it was my house gun with 44 specials in it.

The grip really fits my gigantor hands very well so it is one of my favorite/comfortable revos to shoot.
Rear sight took some adjustment out the box.

use it for fun factor. Don't have a holster for it yet and only put a box of shells threw it. will be shooting it allot more when I get around to reloading for it. It is big and heavy but with a good holster might not be to bad

See what I mean? There's that age factor again. Rudy? Buy all the pistols you want as fast as you can. When you get to be my age you might find yourself arguing with yourself about what to buy.

Reminds me of arguing with my dad when I was 18. Life was easier back then. Hell I knew everything!

Um...kay. Exactly what is there on the Alaskan/SuperHawk not to like? Its a very large metal wheelgun, that fires very large, very powerful rounds out of a well-handling barrel, given the balance of the weapon. Depending on exact cartridge/bullet selection, itll fuck up about anything on two or four legs found on this continent within 20'. Accuracy can be had with practice and a bit of skill, and again, proper cartridge selection. Might be too much weight for some to use as a carry gun, and its potential to use really gnarly cartridge loadings might be drummed up by the prosecutor in a self defense trial, but thats about all.

They shoot nice and are very accurate out to 50'. I fired one owned by a friend at a club shoot. It points well is well balanced and returns to point quickly after firing. I personally would not get one I don't like the Grip.
