    Default Home burglary/ firearm purchase?

I have a friend who's house was broken into and had money and his firearm stolen. He called the police and he was later asked to come down to the station and right a report.
Now he wants to purchase another firearm in case he's home if someone tries to break in again. May people are telling him that he won't pass the background check for a year. Is this true at all?

Something similar happened to me. I bought a new gun the next day no problems.

If I recall correctly, Philadelphia will deny him a license to carry... for life, for simply being a victim of a crime. Someone in that department thinks that if you had a gun stolen from you, you're lax with storage so you don't deserve to carry.

    PICS/NICS won't care at all.

I don't recall a question on the form stating "Have any of you firearms been lost or stolen?" I don't think he should have a problem acquiring a new firearm. I would find a better way to secure the new firearm so it isn't stolen again.

This might be the reason Philadelphians often don't report a stolen firearm! They are being penalized for being a victim of a crime!

Time for a better hiding spot for the gun though.

Wow I can't believe that (actually I can, I just don't want to...)

Your friend will have no problems purchasing. I hope his luck turns around.

This is a reminder for everyone to make sure their free NRA insurance is activated.
