Three stupid questions about a Norinco

I ran into a guy at the show today selling an older Norinco AK-47 and the price was just too good to say no (besides I'm a sucker for a 'homeless' AK) so I bought it.

Got it home and started trying to date it, I found this site: http://www.simonov.net/uberid.htm and because my serial starts with a 9 it looks like it was made in 1965. It was imported by Century but has no import date on it.

Dumb question #1: Is there any way to figure out if it is a pre-ban (I realize the import date is the key NOT the manufacturer date.)

Dumb question #2: How the HELL do you get the hi cap mag out of this thing? I found a few videos online that show them just pop out but I pull the retainer back and pull and yank, bend and twist and I can NOT get this damn thing out! AARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG!

Dumb question #3: Rich from Warners saw the gun (made the deal at his table THANKS Rich!) and he said I got a hell of a deal because the one mag was a prototype mag (the gun came with the hi-cap installed and two other mags, looks like a 5 round and a 10 round). I have searched the internet high and low and can not find any information on them ... WTF are these things

BTW, just for the record I have to give a MAJOR thumbs up to Rich and everyone else at Warners. Just met them a few months ago, bought 2 weapons from them and did a bunch of transfers with them and they are just the best. For any of you in the Pocono Mtn area that haven't checked them out get your BUTTS over there and support these great people!

Is it an AK or SKS that you have????

1. Unless you are in a select few states with their own AW laws - the ban thing means nothing because the federal law expired in 2004. Pa isn't one of those states..

Some SKS hi cap mags are not detachable. They are simply hi cap versions of the "fixed" but "hinged" box magazine.
