Default OWB Holsters, & Summer Heat

It's getting warmer, and soon it'll be miserably hot.

    Just wondering:

Do OWB holsters feel better in the summer heat?

What do the classifications of condition 1, 2, 3, and so on mean?

I believe blackhawk makes a owb, condition-2 holster without a thumb break. Are they a good, and trusted brand of holsters?

I find them more confortable pretty much all the time.

    See Below
I believe you are refering to retention levels. Generally I believe they are classified as: level 1- Passive retention only. Basically the friction of the gun in the holster keeps it in place. This would be most open top holsters.

level 2- 1 level of active retention. These holsters have at least one mechanical means of keeping the gun in the holster. This can be a thumb break or a button of some type.

level 3- Same idea as level 2 except there is at least two mechanical blocks to removing the gun. These are usually the duty type holsters you see for police.

    Level 1 holster.

    Level 2 holsters.

    Level 3 Holsters.

I prefer OWB all year round, especially in the summer, since an IWB would probably get soaked with sweat. Add on top that for me at least, IWB holsters are very uncomfortable.

I use a Blackhawk Serpa, which is a Level 2 the majority of the time. Disappears under a loose fitting shirt even with a larger frame gun.
