1st AR-Need opinion on Upper Assembly
I am in the process of getting my first AR and decided on building my own. I have already purchased a Stripped Lower/Parts Kit and now looking at a complete Upper assembly.
I found this one on PSA's website and would like opinions. This is a Blem but from what I have heard the PSA Blems are nothing to worry about.
So I guess the specific question I have about this Upper is the "Pencil profile" and the "Machine Gun Steel". Here is the link to the PSA site.

Thanks in advance,
Steve
BTW, the Lower is a PSA Blem as well. Not sure what it looks like since I only ordered it on Monday

Re: 1st AR-Need opinion on Upper Assembly
My "blem" PSA lower only has some minor brush marks if the light hits it just a certain way. I can guarantee I'll ding it up worse through use. But there is no set standard so your's may be better or worse.

Put a good commentator/brake on it, with a Rainier Raptor or BCM Charging handle.
Don't cheap out on your trigger or pistol grip either.
Get some sights.
You should be good to go with this upper.
I'm willing to bet it'll look nicer than some of the crap Noveske has been putting out lately.
This was sent to me at work yesterday by a friend after voicing some dissatisfaction with the quality of some parts (barrel, upper, lower).

Re: 1st AR-Need opinion on Upper Assembly
Christ, I planned to pick up a Gen2 lower because I like the big flare and chamfered magwell. If that is what I am going to get for $245 I think I will have to pass and look at something else. I could easily tig up the shitty spots, smooth and have reanodized but for what Noveske wants for the lower there is no way in hell you have to do that.

Maybe the employee that is inspecting lowers at Noveske used to work for Colt.

Re: 1st AR-Need opinion on Upper Assembly
WOW Way to Hijack my Thread... LOL. I mean I was expecting some off topic comments like dont forget to lube it up or some random Gun picture but not after 2 Replies.
I paid 60 for the PSA Blem lower so even if it looks like the Noveske in those links I am ok with it. I am building an AR to shoot not put in a trophy case.
Any other opinions on this particular upper?
I have learned a lot from this forum. Thanks for the help.
