Transportation Question
I know that without an LTCF, you must be going to or from a place where you were legally doing something with the firearm (range, shop, etc) and it must be unloaded and the ammo in a separate place from the firearm.
Having an LTCF, does that still restrict me to separating the ammo and firearm? Obviously you can carry a loaded firearm with the LTCF in a vehicle, but what if I am headed to the range and the gun is in the trunk of my car. Perhaps I have a mag loaded, but the mag isnt in the gun, but next to it in the case. Is this OK? When I travel to the range I usually have everything in the same bag, but the ammo is just in a different zippered pocket.
I am hoping the answer is "do whatever you want, you have an LTCF"

with regards to what the state calls "firearms" as opposed to rifles and shotguns etc. you can have as many firearms loaded on you, off body, in your trunk, whatever, as many as you want, doesnt matter if you are on your way to or from the range or grandma's house... remember this is when you have a LTCF

Re: Transportation Question
Even with the LTCF, you cannot have a loaded long arm in the vehicle. With the LTCF you can have a loaded handgun, SBR or SBS, but not a loaded shotgun or rifle. This has been discussed many times on the forum.

Re: Transportation Question
sorry as i read his question i took it to mean he was asking if he were transporting his firearm to the range in an unloaded condition, not as if he were transporting a long arm. he does NOT mention long arms in his OP. he said what if his firearm was UNLOADED. did it still need to have seperate containers for the ammo, i was the one who brought up long arms

Re: Transportation Question
Perhaps we could all be more of a help if the OP was as specific as possible. Many people don't make the distinction between the legal definition of 'firearms' per the UFA and using it as a general term instead of "gun".
