    Default Scandium S&W .357?

I know there was a lightweight .44 mag made, was there ever L-frame .357 magnum lightweight model?

I have the S&W 357 nightguard. I do not believe it is a L frame. It is a scandium frame.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

Yes, an L framed lightweight .357 was made. In fact, a couple of models were made in different barrel lengths. I will list the models I know of below along with a description:

386 XL a six inch .357 with a scandium frame and barrel shroud. The cylinder and barrel liner are stainless.

386 night guard is a 2.5 inch 7 shot .357 with a scandium frame and barrel shroud and stainless cylinder and barrel liner.

386 SC Mountain Lite is a 3 inch barreled 7 shot .357 with a scandium frame, titanium cylinder and stainless barrel liner, very light and very handy. Also available with a stainless cylinder.

386 SC/S was a 2.5 inch seven shot .357 with a scandium frame and titanium cylinder it was made in a black finish.

You can find pictures if you google them...

Steve, you forgot the one that most closely equates to the .44 that OP references: The 386 PD

PD stands for Personal Defense. The PD guns used Scandium frames and titanium cylinders. The one that I lust for is the short barreled version of the 325 PD.

There were two 357 NightGuards, A 7-8 rounder on the "N" frame and a 6 shooter in the "L" frame. The NightGuards used coated SS cylinders. I am waiting for the 329 XL hunter its on the S&W website but never made.

There has never been a 7-round N-frame. There were indeed, two .357 Mag Night Guards - the 8-shot 327 Night Guard, built on the N-frame. And the 7-shot 386 Night Guard, built on the L-frame. There was also a 6-shot .38 Special, the 315 Night Guard, built on the K-frame. They all used a black scandium frame with black SS cylinders.

Thank you Pizza Bob for the clarification, I couldn't remember if it was 7 or 8 rounds on the "N" frame. Man, an 8 round round .357! Why aren't there more around.
