    Default Saiga magazines

I noticed some Saiga rifles take 7.62x39 and are built on the AK frame. The website only sales 5 and 10 round mags, but are AK mags compatable with this gun?

    Answered my question partly...
Yes they can take them after modification.
    What are the modifications needed?

    1. File down the mag catch (military mags have a thicker rear tab that won't lock in a Saiga)

    2. Add a bullet guide. AKs need these. Saiga doesn't have one so it uses a higher front lip on its mags.

I believe that there are also aftermarket 30 rd. mags available, but they run $40. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=101240000

There are mags specific to saigas that will not need a bullet guide. And also, some surplus mags will feed most of the time. I have shot a saiga conversion, probably 100 rounds once, and there were 3 jams from having no bullet guide. The owner intended to install one.
