    Default Individual firearm purchases questions

Quick question. What are the rules regarding selling a handgun between 2 private citizens, like a friend selling it to another friend etc. For instance what if that friend is under 21, say 20 years old. Because he could not buy a handgun from a dealer, would he be able to purchase it from one of his friends. All responses appreciated.

ALL handguns MUST go through an FFL, if you sell it to them without an FFL you could go to jail and lose you rights to own guns again .. and selling it to someone under 21 makes it 10 times worse

    Don't even THINK about it!

Private handgun sales in PA need to go through an FFL or a Sheriff. (with a few family exceptions) You have to be 21 to go through an FFL, and good luck finding a Sheriff willing to do the transfer.....

You are legally allowed to own a handgun at 18, however, you must be 21 to purchase through a FFL. The only way to legally purchase a gun if you are under 21 is to have the transfer done through the sheriff's office. From what I have read, not a lot of sheriffs are willing to do this though.

You could always just wait the year out until you become 21. A year isn't that long really.
