Why don't dogs cough?

I was watching my dog drink water from a bowl today and i've gotta say.. the chance it'll go down the wrong pipe is way more than our chances drinking out of a cup - - though it's happened to us..

WHy don't they cough??? Ever??

My dog coughs occasionally.... well it's more like a hack, usually caused by the hairball it just licked off its ass.........

They can get kennell cough which is actually very contagious.

My dogs ( English pointer, Brittnay Spaniel ,and various mutts ) all coughed and hacked . the Pointer tried to eat afrog but gagged and it sounded like all hell broke loose. Yes they cough and they get Kennel cough , too.

My dawg coughs all the freaking time, the vet suggested get this......Taking him to the Jhons Hopkins of the animal worls for a 3 day alergey study, to the tune of just over $3K. You should have seen the looks I got while on my way out I was singing under my breath " How much is that doggy in the window".

i own 4 dogs and ive heard them all cough, 2 pits, rottweiler, chocolate lab

When a dog coughs it often sounds more like a gagging sound or choking than what we think of as a cough. Our dogs cough occasionally, the vet put the one antibiotics once because it wouldn't go away but wasn't kennel cough.
