Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
Utah will require you to have a PA LTCF before they will issue you (or any PA resident) a Utah permit.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
Because of the McKown case (and his wonderful activism on your behalf), no Pennsylvania resident may carry concealed or in a vehicle without a Pennsylvania-issued LTCF. Any evidence that you possessed a valid, recognized license from any other state will be ruled inadmissible in your trial.
Please remember to support his other efforts on your behalf, to the extent you feel is appropriate based on his past results.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
Here is something that I've been mulling over for some time:
Does a Pennsylvania resident without an LTCF have the ability to carry in a vehicle under 18 PA CS §6106 (b)(11) with an alien state's license?
Consider the Superior Court holding in McKown:
we hold that a Pennsylvania resident
who does not have a valid Pennsylvania license issued under the
Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act may not carry a firearm in a vehicle or
concealed on or about his person in Pennsylvania under the authority of a
permit issued by another state that has reciprocity with Pennsylvania.
(11) Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle,
which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license
for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the
United States or any other state.IANAL

Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
Yup I own property in pa. Hence the question. Originally Fl ccw was fine, then not. Then I read AZ fell off also. Getting crazy and I was confused. So still good with UT. Hell I even had NH ( live free or die) for years, until they changed their rules also. We better vote all these people out or we'll be protecting ourselves with pens. Thanks for the clarification Curmudgeon and Gunlawyer. I really would rather not have to open carry but if I have to and it's legal I will. This aggression .....will not stand, man.

Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
If I remember correctly,,,,,, Utah now requires you to have a valid carry license/permit from your home state.
"Non-resident proof of permit. If you reside in a state that recognizes the validity of the Utah CFP or has reciprocity with Utah, you must obtain a CFP or CCW from your home state and submit a copy of it with your application for a Utah permit. For a list of reciprocal states click here. Residency will be determined by your state-issued identification. If your state does not recognize the Utah permit this does not apply. "

Re: FL-AZ-UT NON-RES clarification
Owning property in Pennsylvania is not deterministic as to whether you are a resident – maintaining a "home" in Pennsylvania and occupying it while you're here is the key though there is no statutory definition as to "residency" as it applies to the Uniform Firearms Act.
If you are truly a dual resident of both Florida and Pennsylvania then, according to the PA AG's office, your Florida license would be recognized.
If you are a dual resident of Pennsylvania and Florida you need not
apply for a CCP in Pennsylvania if you currently hold a CCP from
Florida. You must, however, carry with you proof of your Florida
citizenry/residence along with your CCP identification when you are
carrying a concealed firearm either on your person or in a vehicle.
Similarly dual residents of Arizona in Pennsylvania can use their Arizona license in Pennsylvania.Last edited by tl_3237; March 18th, 2014 at 10:14 AM.
