Youtube Videos On Guns
I can't watch these awful videos where someone with the personality of a rock struggles to read information off of the manufacturer's website. I want to know about the controls, the fit and finish, the ergonomics, how it shoots, show me the sight picture, etc. Tell me ANYTHING but that it has an uhhh 18.5 (they always say POINT five and I hate it) inch barrel and holds uhh I think 4 in the magazine plus 1 in the tube (I hate when people call the chamber 'the tube'). If you are so desperate for attention and validation that you are making a video to upload onto youtube when you have NOTHING even remotely interesting to talk about, just say that up front. I'll transcribe how nearly all youtube gun reviews should go 'Hey, guys. I'm just feeling especially uhh sad today, uhh no one loves me so I'm going to try and make some internet friends. So uhh what I'm doing to do is show you this thing I bought because I hoped it would fill the loveless void in my heart. I don't know anything about it so we're going to read all the uhh information off the manufacturer's website. Excuse the stuttering and mispronunciation. I'm uhh gonna try to make this as exciting as I can without giving you any new or useful info, ok? Here we go ... regurgitates numbers for several minutes and then thanks people for watching.' I also hate when people refer to themselves as their youtube username. 'This is boringvids4ursuicide comin' at you from my mom's basement'.
Am I just being a miserable troll or do others find these same things mildly annoying as well?

Re: Youtube Videos On Guns
Who are you watching?
I suggest watching these guys.
Hickok45
22 plinkster
Iraqveteran8888
Nutnfancy
Military Arms Channel
sootch00
tnoudoors9
Sure, I'll watch other random channels but these guys seem to get it covered especially Nutnfancy. He probably gives the most in depth reviews. Hickok45 reviews a crap tons of guns too, and gives his own solid opinion.
IV8888 is more fun and general knowledge. Military Arms Channel gives a good view.
Sootch I think gives good reviews on gun accessories like if you are in the market of looking for a new pistol grip or something.
22 plinkster is essentially everything 22 LR.
tnoudoors I think does a little of everything but I think I've watched him mostly for ballistics tests more than just firearms.

In case you haven't noticed, the internet is a vast wasteland.
A mis-information super highway.
A place to kill a few years of your life!
I like the internet for what it is, but some people need a reality check. Sometimes the best experience IS experience! Sometimes the best education is being self taught rather than taught by an internet commando.
That said, PAFOA is exempt for the above........With great power comes great responsibility....

Re: Youtube Videos On Guns
I have to agree with posts #1 and #2.
There are many dweebs doing gun review videos. You know it's going to be a bad video when the person starts off by apologizing to his viewers because he hasn't been able to put a video up for a few days because (insert some personal reason, dog ran away, fight with wife, injured at work, etc.). Also, ever notice they all seem to have an animated intro where their user name either blows up or is riddle with bullets to some random music they probably think is cool?
On the other hand, there are some decent reviewers on YouTube.

Re: Youtube Videos On Guns
I would love to do gun reviews, but people would need to give me guns.

I could not agree with you more. Half the review videos I watch are off within 30 seconds because it's that bad. Best to stick to the most popular channels as mentioned above.

Re: Youtube Videos On Guns
The Midway USA channel is awesome. He covers all sorts of things from the most basic gun smithing techniques, to projects like re-chambering old firemars to modern cartridges and everything in between.
He has videos on reloading paper wrapped cartridges, he makess own 11ga brass shells for some obscure shotgun, machines replacement parts for 100 y/o rifles. A LOT of stuff that 99% of gunsmiths out there may not even attempt, but still super intesting to watch.
Man, I would love to spend a week with Larry Potterfielld in his workshop.
