18 Pa.C.S. § 6109(h)(7) A person who sells or attempts to sell a license to carry a firearm for a fee in excess of the amounts fixed under this subsection commits a summary offense.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is doing none of the above. They give you two options:

1. Have them do all the legwork and have you wait 45 days.
2. You do the legwork, and if someone down the food chain charges you extra, sorry 'bout that.

Write to your elected representative. Ask him why license procedures are not uniform throughout the Commonwealth.

I am so sick of persons complaining about the local check card. One writer will say they were charged and paid because they don't want to wait the 45 days at the Sheriff's Office. If you don't stick together the practice will go on and on and you have no one to complain but yourselves. Here in Florida, I must say, the process is smooth and uniform. You send in your information to one place and you get your permit if you don't have a background problem. I read on here on this site that Philadelphia asks questions about tatoos and requests a reference form of their own to be filled out, that some Montgomery County jurisdictions require a preapplication card that has unauthorized fees, that some jurisdications don't issue to nonresidents. Please get some balls and do something about. I am sick and tired of reading that one person is mistreated and the other writers say just keep your mouth shut and put up with it so at least you will get your permit. It is obvious the problem is long term and getting worse. Maybe it is time to file actions with the court and fight the problem.
