Plinking in the wilderness
I currenty shoot at a state gamelands range.. But I love to shoot at more interesting things than paper. Is it legal to go out into gamelands, find a big field, and plink?

Only if you are using a firearm that can legally be used for hunting.
I don't have a catchy phrase to put here!

So my 30-06 rem 700 would probably qualify then?
I guess I could always claim that I was just a really bad deer hunter..
"Really officer, I was trying to get that dear, but I kept hitting those damn soup cans instead!"

Plinking in the wilderness
Don't know about state game lands, but around here, a lot of us go out to an old strip mine and fire away. While some people don't clean up after themselves, since there are no garbage cans out there, we always make sure that WE police up our brass and any other trash we might have generated, and haul it home for disposal.
Guns are like shoes...a woman should have one in every caliber.
I'm armed and menopausal...Excuse me, did you have something to say?

No, you are not allowed to 'plink' on state gamelands. It's on page 22 of that book they gave you with your hunting license. Target shooting on SGL is prohibited, except at ranges.
I'm hiding behind that tree you were shooting at.
