Glock G30s Review: The Good/The Bad
So a few weeks back I purchased a brand new Glock G30s from Trop Gun Shop. Took it home cleaned it and loaded the mags.
I wasn't able to shoot it until today. I used up one of my free hours at Trops indoor range. By the way nice facility.
Pros
- Fits my hand like a glove.
- Nice size for CC purposes.
- .45ACP
- Stock trigger is decent IMO. Not sloppy.
- Nice weight
- Available aftermarket products.
Cons
- Pinches pinky finger with 10rd mags. Not horrible though.
- Flings brass behind me pretty far.
- Mags are hard to load to full capacity.
- Factory mag loader sucks.
So I went to the Trop indoor range today to try out my new piece. I loaded the first mag with 230gr Winchester PDX1 ammo. Four rounds down the pipe just fine. It failed to load the 5th round. The round was stick sticking nearly straight up into the top of the barrel. After fixing the issue I proceeded to shoot the 5th and 6th rounds just fine.
Mind you I'm shooting six rounds per magazine.
I loaded the second mag up with 230gr Winchester white box FMJ. Never had an issue with any of them.
I was shooting at 7yards with my first target. Second target I did 5yards and
7yards.
66 rounds shot total today. I'm not the best shot in the world and will never claim to be. I haven't shot a pistol in about a year.
If I were to get another Glock it would be a G21 or a G17.Last edited by PA1936MN; March 7th, 2014 at 02:47 PM.

Re: Glock G30s Review: The Good/The Bad
I hate to say this, but it is not the gun. I said this in another thread. I am NO Glock fan. Don't own any, never have, and probably never will.
That being said, several years I shot the 9MM G26, and .45 G30 side by side, at 25 yards. At the time, I was shooting regularly, mostly a 1911, and Browning Hi Power. The little G26, and G30 almost equaled my groups with the 1911, and BHP at 25 yards. I was amazed. I had never shot one before, and found the trigger pretty darn good.
Get some trigger time, and instruction, and slowly move the target out as you get more proficient.

What does Trop charge for Glocks? I have been wanting to head out that way one of these days.

Yup, pretty common. I learned to shoot with my pinky straight out.
Also common when new, this will pass. Had the same problem with a Sigma 9VE. Give the mags spring a little time to loosen up.
--- what a great excuse to get more trigger time!

Re: Glock G30s Review: The Good/The Bad
I thought the 30s was a great gun while I had it. I sold it thought to fund something else. I still like Glocks and will never get ride of my Glock 19, but I've moved primarily to HK pistols and ain't going back. My .45 is now a HK45 compact
Now less Glock, more H&K :)

Re: Glock G30s Review: The Good/The Bad
after a few days with mags loaded the spring eased up and was much better to load pretty easy. i recently bought the 30sf, and first time out shooting, i shot more accurately than with my g19. i was very surprised, less recoil than i had expected. i also, not a great shot, but better with 30sf than 9mm, so far anyway

Re: Glock G30s Review: The Good/The Bad
Hi Guys, this thread caught my interest because I am looking at acquiring a Glock 30S in the near future. At present I have a G36, G17, G19, G26, G34, and my most recent purchase a G42. I belong to GSSF and last month used my 2014 GSSF coupon to purchase my G42 (as well as most of my other Glocks in the past), out the door for $370.00. I have had issues with my Glocks over the years, but have found that most of the problems were solved on my part, not the Glock. How you can have issues with a pistol, and in the same paragraph admit you have not shot a pistol in over a year is beyond me. Super Member or not, please make reasonable posts. I use PAFOA as a learning tool. Thank You
