    Default transporting firearms/ammo

    I've been reading the archives and I'm still unsure. I read the definition of a loaded firearm but not sure about ammunition thats not in a magazine but in the same case as the gun.

    For example. Going to the range today. My 243 has a detachable magazine but if the magazine is empty can I put a box of bullets in my hard case with the rifle? Some people seem to say yes and some no. As far as I can tell thats not mentioned in the loaded firearm statute. Curious what your interpretation is.

    6102;

    "Loaded." A firearm is loaded if the firing chamber, the nondetachable magazine or in the case of a revolver, any of the chambers of the cylinder contain ammunition capable of being fired. In the case of a firearm which utilizes a detachable magazine, the term shall mean a magazine suitable for use in said firearm which magazine contains such ammunition and has been inserted in the firearm or is in the same container or, where the container has multiple compartments, the same compartment thereof as the firearm.
    Loaded magazine cannot be in the same compartment as the firearm.

    Rifle must be unloaded. Loaded mags must be in a separate compartment.

    Example: Your rifle can have an empty mag inserted, or no mag inserted. Chamber of course must be empty. In the same compartment as your unloaded rifle you can have as much ammo as you want either loose or in boxes.

    Loaded mags can be in a separate pouch on the same container/bag, or in glove box, sitting on the seat etc
