Re: pistol caliber carbines
i own a colt AR15 chambered in 9mm and a UZI chambered in 45 and I enjoy shooting both. the pros to pistol caliber carbines is they share ammo with your pistol, extend the range you can accurately engage a target and add a bit of velocity due to the extra barrel length. for home defense I think pistol caliber carbines are a great choice and for a long time pistol caliber carbines were the rifle of choice for law enforcement. times have changed and many agencies are going to SBR rifles chambered in 5.56 but that doesn't necessarily mean pistol caliber carbines are obsolete. depending on your intended use a pistol caliber carbine may be a better choice over a rifle. i bought mine just because i thought they would be fun to shoot.

Re: pistol caliber carbines
Bought a Ruger P-9 back when they were new. I still have it and am keeping it. Great trainer and fun plinker.
Uses Ruger P series pistol mags. A bit heavy but no recoil, very accurate. Everyone that has ever shot it likes it. No idea why Ruger stopped making them when it seems a lot of folks like and look for them. I see them used from time to time but pricey.
The Marlin Camp series were pretty decent, but I believe they stopped making them also. They also made the Marlin in .45...
I have fired a Hi-Point....its ok, I had no problems with it. It just looks like hell to me.
Never fired the Beretta or Keltec offerings.
Kind of like the looks of the Beretta."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

Re: pistol caliber carbines
The only ones I would be interested in are typically guns with some sort of historical military background such as the Uzi.
The problem for a lot of these guns is the 16 inch schnoz on them.

I have a Keltec sub2000 carbine in the Glock 17 configuration. It was difficult to find at a reasonable price, but well worth the effort. It accepts any Glock 17 mags and Glock accessories (including the 50 round 9mm drums). It folds in half for easy storage, transportation, and cleaning. It is reasonably accurate and accepts all sorts of aftermarket accessories. 9mm configuration means I can do a decent amount of shooting without breaking the bank, and 9mm ballistics from the extended length barrel are impressive. I have not had any further desire for another pistol carbine since purchasing this one.

I've got a hi point 9mm carbine. It sits in the safe. I bought it before I got black rifle disease.

Re: pistol caliber carbines
I enjoy all my pistol caliber carbines. I own a Keltec sub nine, keltec sub 2000, RRA lar 9 and a Kriss crb. They all have their pros and cons but all are fun to take to the range.
I like the older keltec sub nine the best, they were made from aluminum and have a great trigger. They are very hard to find lately and they come at a premium but i highly recommend it if you come across one.
