    Default Backyard shooting range?

I am looking at property in Carbon and wanted to see if anyone had knowledge of the legality of building a range in my backyard.

The property is 20+ acres with a more then suitable hill for a backstop. Any advice would be appreciated!

Check your local municipality to see if they have an ordinance against recreational target shooting.

You have to check your township zoning. Noise and nuisance ordinances. Even though you may be pretty far from neighbors the layout of the land will make a big difference how sound travels so if you're considerate you'll probably never even get a complaint.

Thanks for the replies. I assume I'd need to call the township zoning office and they could supply the information then.

As far as the land, all of my neighbors plots are larger then mine, so the closest house is likely separated by at least 40 or 50 acres of land. Most of the surrounding area is wooded so I imagine that helps a bit with the sound.

Hopefully I'll be up there in just a few months, fingers crossed they accept my offer! Ready to leave the city behind me..
