Buying ammo at Dick's

Talking with a neighbor today who had just got back from buying some .22s at our local Dick's. He said when he placed the the brick on the counter, the cashier

1- Asked for his date of birth.

2- Had him touch-screen (same one as bank card) (yes or no) "Are you a citizen of the United States?"

3-Asked to see his driver's license. Said it looked like he was looking at the photo.

I asked him if they asked if he was from New Jersey and he said no. He said the brick of Thunderbolt 500s was $22.99 and they were limiting to one brick per. He said he was there around 11:30 AM an they had about 12 bricks when he was there.

Just passing it along...mainly wondering about the purposes of their procedures.
