Ruger SR1911
I bought a new 5" SR1911 at the December Gun Show in Oaks. I was to the range twice with it, ran less then 300 rounds through it. Great gun and accurate.
Yesterday, I didn't have to work, so went to the range. I ran 35 rounds through it, and (((POOF))).....my front sight was gone.
It broke off almost flush at the base of the blade. I did an internet search, and was surprised to find that this has happened to many others. In some cases, it's happened 2 and 3 times to the same people.
There's no doubt that Ruger will fix the problem, hopefully paying shipping as well. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else here.
BTW......the sight only cost about $6 from Ruger.
I'm thinking of just buying a Fiber Optic, and replacing it myself, rather then shipping them the gun, having them replace the broken sight with an exact duplicate, only to have it happen again.

Re: Ruger SR1911
Love my full size Ruger. My buddy has one also and before his first 50 rounds, the white portion of the front sight came out. $10 fix and he's been good ever since.

Re: Ruger SR1911
No issues with my commander version (knock on wood), but be assured Ruger has very good customer service. Years ago I had a rear sight bind to the point it wasn't adjustable (notch in the slide was cut tight). The factory made it right without question.
