Drill here drill now, pay less! ----must read
As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.
Sign the petition, Newt Gingrich is taking the petition to congress but it needs more signatures.

I agree...we need to stop being Dependant on other countries for our needs! And we need to stop sending billions in aide around the world every time there's a mudslide or rain storm.
To quote Denis Leary, "Two words. Nuclear f*ing weapons, okay?! Russia, Germany, Romania - they can have all the Democracy they want. They can have a big democracy cake-walk right through the middle of Tiananmen square and it won't make a lick of difference because we've got the bombs, okay?! John Wayne's not dead - he's frozen. And as soon as we find the cure for cancer we're gonna thaw out the duke and he's gonna be pretty pissed off. You know why? Have you ever taken a cold shower? Well multiple that by 15-million times, that's how pissed off the Duke's gonna be."Last edited by RocketFoot; May 29th, 2008 at 09:04 AM.

Congress IS the problem. Can't drill off Florida, yet the Chinese are doing it. Can't put windmills off Cape Cod because Teddy Kennedy said, "But I sail there." Can't drill in Alaska but the Russians are moving closer. And on top of all that more oil won't solve anything until when increase our already strained refinery capacity.

What we need to do is to stop capitulating to these whacko environmentalists...
Why aren't we developing nuclear energy here... Environmentalists...
Why aren't we developing domestic oil exploration... Environmentalists...
Why aren't we building new oil refineries... Environmentalists...
Why are farmers growing fuel rather than food... Environmentalists...Drew Bingaman Chair Susquehanna Valley Libertarian Party

If you want to watch something strange, watch the environmentalist "greenies" fighting wind power in the Appalachians in western MD and now in PA. WV is raking the tax money in hand over fist.

The big argument against drilling here is, it would take up to 10 years for the new crude to hit the market. Local governments in Florida and California forbid off shore drilling for fear it would hurt their tourist industry. How is the high cost of energy working out for their tourist industry now? If people are spending all of the extra cash to fuel their vehicles and put food on the table, when will they have enough money to go on vacation?
If our parents and grandparents took that attitude in the '40s, we would be speaking German now.
The only superpower in the world and we can't even build a fence on the border.
The American people have not lost the "can do" attitude. We are held back by idiotic legislation and a constant barrage of new taxes which eliminates incentive for economic growth.Last edited by reels18; May 29th, 2008 at 09:59 AM.

Hmmm...so you're suggesting we continue consuming our natural resources while ignoring the land's ability to renew them?
We're the biggest energy hogs on the planet. Maybe the answer isn't "drilling for more" like some fat kid ransacking the pantry in search of another bag of chips. Maybe the answer is trying to find ways to reduce our consumption. If big oil spent as much money trying to develop new technologies as they do trying to protect their overblown profits, they'd be able to shift into alternative energy sources and STILL make money. And they'd do it without raping the land and citizens like you and me.
