Re: Is it easy
????
If you meant to ask whether a Mini-14 that is shipped with a factory 5-rounder can accept higher capacity magazines 0f 20-, 30-, or 40-round varieties. Then the answer is absolutely yes. No conversion is necessary. You just pop out the 5-round mag and insert a higher capacity one. There is no difference in magazine-well dimensions between a Mini-14 that ships with a 5-round magazine and one that ships with a 20-round magazine.

Re: Is it easy
I know we all have to start somewhere and there is a lot to learn about firearms. But, if some are so lacking in knowledge, can they really handle firearms safely ?????
You don't have enough guns untill you don't know how many you have.

Give the newbie a break. We were all there at some point in our lives.
Additionally, at least he called them "mags" and not "clips".

Re: Is it easy
joeyj - It's just like Fortytwo said. Easy as pie, just remove 5 round magazine, and insert the larger capacity magazine. The rifle will still function the same. However, you have to be aware that some makes of after market brand magazines, don't work as well as Ruger extra capacity magazines.
mongo - The best thing to do in this case is to give joeyj, as much assistance/advice as we can. The only dumb question regarding a firearm is the one you don't ask.

Re: Is it easy
Besides, it wasn't a bad question at all. We all know that there are guns that are called the same name but use different magazines (single-stack vs double-stack AK-47 magazines, metric vs inch pattern FAL); and there are guns that are of different models and calibers yet use the same magazine (such as the various long- or short-action Remington 740/7400/7600 models). It was a very valid question to ask when researching a potential new toy before committing several hundred dollars to it.
