Question Larger, securable, personal, portable gun safe ?

I started carrying this past September.
And since then. For those times when I need to enter an establishment that doesn't allow guns. ie. Post Office.
I've been searching for some type of portable gun safe to secure my handgun to my motorcycle and in my truck.

The only such items I've found are the following; listed in order of preference:

    5 Star Gun Safes
    http://5stargunsafes.com/products.htm

    Bulldog
    http://www.bulldogcases.com/case-vau...1a32c56345b0fd

    Stack-On
    http://stack-on.com/categories/personal-casesboxes--6

    Gunvault
    http://www.gunvault.com/gun-safes/nano-vault.html

Of all of these; only the 5 Star Gun Safe actually seems secure.
It's chain and lock appear very similar to Kryptonite motorcycle locks.
The others seems like their chains can very easily be cut and/or their locks picked.
But all of them are too small to hold any of my handguns with their holsters.

Measuring my current handguns with their holsters; I would need a safe such as these. But with inside dimensions of 12"L x 7"W x 3.5"D.
Maybe a couple inches longer if I ever stumble across; and purchase; a S&W Model 25.
I could get by with on a 2" Dept by removing the guns from their holsters.
But I don't want to transfer a gun from it's holster to the safe while out in the open in a parking lot.

Anyone know of such a safe ?

    Thanks;

What's your motorcycle and bike luggage situation look like?

I have no option for securing handgun in any hard luggage.
Only have a soft tankbag that's not lockable, is easy to remove, and is usually full of other items.

Well, it doesn't sound like there is an easy solution for the motorcycle, unless there is a compartment under the seat that opens with the key to access a helmet lock. You could stow your sidearm in there. The alternative, is plan your trips, and don't hit the post office when you're on 2 wheels. Chaining that lock box to your bike seems a little obvious what it is and transferring a handgun outside the post office from your hip to some part of the motorcycle in plain sight might cause undesired attention.

The truck sounds like a pretty clear solution. Buy the one with the heavy duty chain and lock, wrap it around the seat frame, and stuff it under the seat out of site.

The motorcycle is a tough one. For your truck I love the fas1 safe. Fast and easy to access and lock.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I've since contacted the safe I mentioned as looking the most secure in my original post: 5 Star Gun Safes; http://5stargunsafes.com/products.htm.

And he is going to contact his fabrication Department to get a quote on a custom size safe.

    OP here.

I know this thread is nearly 1 year old.
BUT I finally got around to buying a portable gun safe.
And thought I'd pass along some info.

I bought the 5 Star Gun Safes
    http://5stargunsafes.com/products.htm

I ordered it last Friday afternoon. It arrived via USPS Priority Mail.
My Taurus Judge Magnum (3 in. barrel and 3 in. chamber) fits snugly at a slight angle corner-to-corner with room for at a couple of loaded speed loaders.
My two Pietta 1873 SAA are about 1/2 in too long to fit.
So it's questionable any of the three other hand guns on my wish list will fit. Coonan Classic, S&W M&P R8, and S&W model 25 45LC.

    Anyway; this safe is HEAVY.
According to my electronic bathroom scale; safe weighs about 14 lbs, chain weighs about 10 lbs, for a total of about 24 lbs.

The safe it's self appears to be very secure.
And it's chain appears to be the same Onguard security chains deisgned for motorcycles.
Which appear to be a clone of the Kryptonite brand I use for my motorcycles.
I think it will do very well securing my firearm inside my truck or on my motorcycle.

I think I made the right choice.
