rust question
I shaved the fsb on my ar to fit a free float rail. After cutting and grinding I sanded and applied 5 coats of Perma blue.
Went to the range this weekend in the snow - 2 weeks after completing the job. When I got home I noticed rust on the fsb. I plan to remove the fsb, sand it and paint it with high temp grill paint.
I don't think I'll have the time to do the job for 2 weeks. My question is will the rust continue to get worse or will it stay as is? The fsb is dry and in a low humidity environment.
Thanks

Re: rust question
Technically, yes. If you can squirt some penetrating oil(Kroil, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench) on it that ought to keep the rust at bay for a week or two till you can pull the rail.
Degrease well before painting.
YMMV

I redid my front sight base with the brownells parkerizing chemical and the pre black dip. Looks great and lasts like original.
