Default World War Two Match at LRGC

    Fellow Shooters,

I'm pleased announce we will be holding our fourth annual World War Two Practical Rifle Match on Saturday February 22nd at the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club in Holland PA. This is without a doubt, our most popular event of the year! We will be expanding our capacity to accommodate demand. This will mean the match may run a little longer than usual. After the match please join us for an authentic GI field mess served up by our new cook, Chef Natalie. (Chef Lauren has been transferred to the PTO and is unavailable.) Our registration link will open promptly at 9:00am on Monday February 10th.

Here is what you will need:

A World War Two era rifle. Here are some examples of what we typically see:

    M1 Garand
    M1 Carbine
    K98 Mauser
    SVT-40
    1903 or 1903A3 Springfield
    Mosin Nagant
    Enfield
    K-31 Swiss

You may also use larger or smaller magazine fed period firearms as long as they can be fired in semi-auto. There is NO FULL AUTO FIRE PERMITTED. Please email me if you have any questions on if your rifle will qualify for our match. This is a period match so feel free to dress in period specific attire if you'd like.

You will need the follow other items:

Stripper Clips for your bolt gun
    Enbloc Clips for your Garand
Three magazines for your magazine fed rifle
    Eye and Ear protection
    80 rounds of ammunition
    A Chamber Flag
    A sling for your rifle
    Masking tape for your target
    A sharpie marker
To be at the range signed in and ready to go by no later than 0830hrs
    A case for your rifle.
$10 for members, $15 for non-members, $5 donation per guest
Bring exact change and your signed waiver (if you are not an LRGC member)
    A positive and safe attitude

We suggest you bring a set of binoculars or a spotting scope.

Please note that Black Tip, Red Tip, Tracer, Incendiary and any other armor piercing ammunition is strictly prohibited.

The below registration link will open promptly at 9:00am on Monday February 10th.

This is our most popular match of the year and we will do our best to accommodate the demand for shooting slots. That said, I expect this match to sell-out in minutes.

On behalf of all of us in the Practical Rifle Program we look forward to seeing you in February!

For those with dietary concerns, our field mess is cooked using butter, all purpose flour, whole milk, heavy cream, and salted beef. It would not be considered suitable for anyone on a low salt, low fat, or gluten free diet nor anyone that is lactose intolerant.

What distance will they be shooting at?

Would a M1 Thompson SBR work?

Our current plans are to be shooting at targets at 50 yards, 100 yards and 200 yards. The 100 yard and 200 yard shots would be at our large steel targets. As these targets are hit/no hit, I think an SBR Thompson would be a fun addition to the match. I hope you decide to bring it!

Gary, I know the SKS most likely wasn't used during the war, but it was developed in the time period.....would that qualify? BTW, the AK match this past weekend was a BLAST!!!! Can't wait to make it out again.

No we are more of a fun shoot where like minded folks break out there WW2 era rifles and bang away at steel and paper targets. No shooting jackets or mats needed.

I'm glad you had fun! You are correct that the SKS was technically developed during the war. We've elected to not consider the SKS suitable for this match. Hopefully you have a Mosin Nagant or other WW2 rifle available to you.
