    Default 22 scope

Looking for an option on a scope for a 22. I've been looking at a lot of options online but the dates on a lot of different websites are almost outdated. I'm looking into getting something to hunt squirrel at 50 yards + or -. I'm looking towards a savage fv, or if you have a different idea I'd like some opinions. My price range is around $100 for the scope and $200 for the rifle.

In my searching I found Nikon ProStaff 4 x 32 and a Mueller APV 4.5-14 x 40mm from a few different forums and threads online.

There were a few scopes mentioned here. Sort of a short thread, but you may have missed it since it's in the Rifles section...

That thread answered a good amount of questions I had thanks. I was at claytons just seeing what scopes they had and they had that simmons 22mag scope that the guy on that thread put on for around 60 if I remember correctly so that's a good option and it got some good reviews on amazon as well. I'm still up in the air what combo I'm defiantly going with.

Although it's not the Nikon you asked about, I have a Prostaff 2-7 shotgun scope that spent some time on a 30-06 and is now on my 22 rimfire. Have had no problems with it, worked just fine last fall while squirrel hunting.

    FWIW,

    I got a cheap centerpoint / crossman 4X32 on my Marlin 80
it shoots cloverleafs at 50 yards, and tight groups at 100 yards, (just not touching)
I haven't tried it at 200 yards yet, so I don't know if it is any good at that distance

I ended up picking up a savage fv-sr today. I ordered a Mueller apv from amazon this afternoon. I will leave a review when it comes some time this week.
