Default Tx firearms shown to ATF agents.

Interesting story on a man in Texas who writes for the firearms blog. He allowed the ATF to look at all his guns. I don't think I would have done the same.. How about you?

My problem with the entire visit is that the agents weren't up front with their purpose right away. They had no business talking to him about anything other than the firearm in question. This was more of a fishing expedition on this guy than anything else. I doubt he's heard the last of them.

Yeah I read that post yesterday and was mystified why he bent over and grabbed his ankles. I think a lot of people think if they are open and friendly all will be great, but this is business. I would be professional but ask before hand what their exact business is and if I don't have a response, the answer is no thank you. Anything more than that and I'll hire a lawyer and they can talk to the lawyer.

I have worked for organizations with over a million dollars of guns in the armory, post 86 machine guns, destructive devices, you name it and of course the ATF is all up in that business. What I learned from all that is always have your paperwork filled out properly and accurately, maintain good records and anything you are not sure about retain professional legal counsel. That goes from a simple firearm purchase to being an FFL.

    Greetings,

I'd give him a Fail. Don't invite "the man" into your life and if he comes knocking without a warrant, send him away. I'm sure many of the Feds are smart enough to come off as cool, gun appreciating kinds of people rather than start off all hard ass. It's just part of a ruse to get you do drop your guard.

Agree with Streaker69.............they will be back (probably in the middle of the night with many friends and dogs will die).

    Regards, Jim

How come nobody used the words fast and furious yet? The Multiple disposition of rifles on border states came from that mess.... or are we honoring Paul Walker by not taking F&F in vain?

Anywho, I call fail on this guys part. Its like a robber coming into your house and instead of defending yourself you literally hand the guy your weapon, and a mag to boot. Wouldn't be surprised is he gets another knock on the door, this time in the wee hours of the morning.

God bless his dog, as applicable.

And guess what happens if they catch you in a lie or something construed as a lie? A possible felony charge.

I don't think I would have said a word to them without an attorney present and oking it first.
