Re: Liberal Gun Club?
I am a member of the NRA because, while I disagree with some of the ways in which the organization presents itself, it is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment.
I am also a member of the Liberal Gun Club because it is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment.
I don't believe that in order to support the Second Amendment -- along with all the rest -- one has to self-identify with what passes for conservatism these days.

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
Liberals support liberals who oppose gun rights. Their organization is purely deception and /or window dressing

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
I'm confused. Most democrats are liberal. Most liberals favor gun control. So when picking a candidate to vote for, how often do you get to pick a liberal, pro gun candidate? Or I guess I should have not included democrat at all. I would think its tough to find a pro gun liberal to vote for though
And what passes for conservative these days is plenty liberal. Both parties have shifted greatly to the leftLast edited by Mitch10mm; January 3rd, 2014 at 04:15 PM.

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
It is. But they are out there. Last I checked about 1/4 of the politicians the NRA endorses are Democrats.
Here's the facts, though: most of the politicians who are pro-gun control do it because they think it will get them votes. If gun ownership and gun rights becomes synonymous with the conservative movement, then liberal politicians have absolutely no reason not to run on a gun-control platform. They already know they aren't getting your vote, why should they give a rat's ass what you think?
If you want to play the long game and you are really interested in preserving gun rights, then you need to do everything you can to make sure it's not just a conservative platform. You need to knock it off with the constant bashing and the "libtard" kindergarten insults, because that's going to make anyone who's not a conservative write you off as a closed-minded reactionary.
You need to cross the aisle, make some common ground, and quit letting politicians set you up against your fellow citizens. The more liberals that get involved with guns, the less politicians will be able to use gun control as a wedge issue to get votes. That means we all win.

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
You know of course that goes both ways? I have a hard time believing there are in fact a large group of pro gun liberals out there to worry about losing so to speak. Maybe they should become more vocal and condemn the hateful, gun owners and the NRA have blood on their hands comments by their peers as well. I mean seriously, read the comments section after a news story about a shooting. That venom is on one side of the equation. Republicans and conservatives didn't steal gun rights as a plank, democrats and liberals chose gun control.

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
I'm not talking about how many there are. We both know there aren't that many. I'm talking about making some. You can't do that if you're too busy ranting about how terrible liberals are to actually talk to any of them, and I can't do that if I have to fight everything they've been taught about guns and everything they're hearing from you.

I had stumbled across their website a few weeks ago while Goole image searching for pictures of the AK MFER, and I read some of the threads on their forum and they seem to be legitimate firearms enthusiasts.
I just don't understand how they can identify as liberal and (I can only assume) vote Democrat, while simultaneously complaining about gun laws and policies enacted by Democrats without making the connection.
I mean, you can't legitimately complain about the fire that burned your house down if you were throwing gasoline on it.

Re: Liberal Gun Club?
It's a hard choice.
One side wants to disarm me and force me to live their ways ever dependent on their poorly ran system.
Another side wants to cram their religious beliefs down my throat and then tell me to fend for myself.
I dislike both Republicans and Democrats equally to be honest.
I really think the politically correct definition of "liberal" is false. We might all be liberally minded in something which is just simply to be open minded. We just have made these terms such as "socialism", "progress", and "liberal" all taboo meanings. Like they are some plague of society. Just like how the left views being "conservative" or "traditional" bad. Somethings don't need changing, and somethings do. Somethings could use more regulation while in other areas we need less. We are just so up in arms against each other thing whole treating other Americans as an enemy I think is the wrong mindset. You forget there are very real threats to our society and they aren't all human either. But we will mindlessly bicker and refuse to give any ground on anything because the other side is wrong, and will always be wrong because they are wrong.Last edited by Kabloosh; January 3rd, 2014 at 05:35 PM.
