Thompson center venture
Anyone used one of these? It seemed to get a lot of good reviews. I've been in need of a rifle since the divorce when all I got to keep was my S&W .357 and my XD.45 thanks to proof of ownership paperwork (don't ask). Anyway my fav rifle was a 7mm mag and I have been wanting another one since.
Yesterday I was at the gun shop and they had a sale on their TC rifles and there was a 7MM mag, last one they had, for $429 with scope. I couldn't pass it up. I put some money on it and will pick it up in a few weeks. TC advertises it as guaranteed MOA out of the box and most reviews agree. I would rather have a walnut stock but for now I can live with the composite.
So anyone out there have one of these? What has your experience been?

Re: Thompson center venture
I have four of them (280, 7mmRM, 300WSM and 338WM). All shoot easily under one inch with my handloads. The 7mm gave me the most trouble finding a good load but once I did, it shoots under 3/4 inch groups. I just got the 338 for Christmas. The first load I tried in it (210gr Partition with IMR4350) produced a three shot group that measured .589. The Venture is my favorite budget rifle out there right now. I would not hesitate to buy another and plan on picking up one in 270WSM.

Trucker76 look in the recall thread. I have a 308 weather shield and it has been recalled twice in 2 years. The snakes that S&W are, they never told anyone that they would have paid for ammo and remounting of scopes. Screw T/C.

Re: Thompson center venture
I bought one of the predator ventures (22-250). Shoots reloads 1/2 moa. Couldn't be happier with it.
Stay armed my friends.

Re: Thompson center venture
have the venture in 7mm-08 one of the best rifles I own . I like it so much that I would trade my rem 700 for one in 30-06 if I had the chance.

Re: Thompson center venture
I know about the recall I really wanted to know about the scope remounting issue.
I own stock in Smith and Wesson and would like to hear more about the customer issues.
I was worried when they bought TC.
I wanted a Venture or ICON when they came out but since the recalls I haven't made a purchase.

My father in law got a Venture in 300WSM and he's very happy with it. Frankly I think the rifle is more accurate than he is
I'm faster than Doc Holliday (with Novocaine of course)

Re: Thompson center venture
Firstandsecond don't get me wrong the guns are accurate as hell, its just having mine recalled twice for problems in the trigger group. First recall was right at the beginning of the 2011 hunting season which pissed me off even more. I was also informed by S&W customer service that if you feel the rifle is not reliable you can write and ask for them to buy it back, this is something they told noboby just as they told noboby about the ammo and scope remounting.
