When ordering a gun online is it best practice or required to let the FFL know that the gun is being shipped to know that a gun will be shipped?
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.

I do not believe it is required, but it is advisable to let a FFL know they have an inbound package (and who it is from and who it is for).

Years ago a dealer told me if he didn't have a heads-up on it he just sent it back.

You verify with the FFL they Will accept and do the transfer and give them your contact info. The FFL Will contact the seller and they both exchange licensure information. When your order arrives your FFL calls you up to come do the transfer.

I know both Tom (Berks Firearms) and Rob (Firearm Solutions) personally. Both are stand-up, honest, good guys. I'd trust both to have my back in any fire fight.
Both are kitchen table dealers supporting their families.
Tom has a full time job and does the FFL stuff in his spare time. Rob is full time FFL, gunsmith and certified firearms instructor.
Personally, I give my +1 to Rob based upon his many years of experience and knowledge. I can give him a call and say "Rob, it's not going 'bang' when I pull the trigger". He says "bring it over." I swing by, he twitches his nose and sprinkles some fairy dust on it, and BANG ! Fixed.
Plus, it's the least I can do to support a fellow Veteran. 🇺🇸
