Group Memberships
I know we talked about this before...but I had the opportunity to use group memberships on another forum and it is kinda cool! This is how it works...
A member can create a group that will be listed as an available group in the groups section. Other members can then join said group. The groups basically are like a shout box or mini forum. You can post messages to other members of that particular group. The groups can be public or private (invite only) When you create or join a group, the group name appears in your profile.
"Ok Rocket, thats cool and all, but why?" Why you ask? Well, I think it would be nice to have groups for XD Owners, Anaconda Owners, AR15 Owners, AK Owners, OC'ers, CC'ers...etc. Only firearm related groups and only just for fun! Also, make them only viewable by registered members so guests cant see or participate...
All in all, I just think it would be something else to add content to the forums and help bring people closer via common interests. If you don't like the idea, you don't have to use it...it is totally optional.
So what do you think? Can we have Groups turned on?

Re: Group Memberships
There are enough "cliques" on the forum as it is.
Additionally, when you create "hidden" discussion rooms, it takes away from the community feel, and the info that is shared will not be visible to those who may have learned from having seen it. (I'm thinking AR build "private" discussions, as an example)
I don't care for the idea as I understand it.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Group Memberships
Yeah, I guess it would be redundant to have separate discussions about anything that can be in the main forums...but I just think it would be cool to add groups to your profiles. No need to get rowdy and lock it...the forum topic say "we want your suggestions," so I did!

Yeah, Bill, I saw that, but ignored it. (XD's thoughtful post)
I knew what Rocket meant, but the way his post read, it sounded like I was going to lock the thread or something.
Just making it clear that people shouldn't be afraid to give suggestions for fear of having the thread lockedI called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Group Memberships
I wouldn't care for sub discussion forums for groups, but as far as having groups that are profile visible why not?
NRA
GOAC
GOA
and the group types that rocket listed as well.
