    Default Concealed permit renewal question

My concealed weapons permit is about to expire from Luzerne County. I have live in Carbon for about 8 months now and I am not familiar with the process here. Is it the same as Luzerne? Also, since I do not know many people from the county for a reference my question is..... I know a person who cannot buy a firearm due to a involuntary 302. Would using him as a reference effect me at all? Do they run his back round? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Still know 2 people in Luzerne? You can use them.

That said....They do not run background checks on your references.

The requirement for an "in county resident" reference is an arbitrary one. There is nothing in the UFA that states the reference even has to be a resident of PA, let alone the county. That being said, that doesn't mean the sheriff can't try to bind you up in the process for not having an in county resident reference. Ultimately, it's going to be up to you as to whether or not you want to follow an arbitrary rule or follow the law as written.

Actually... The LAW and UFA is explicitly clear to who makes up the rules and process for the LTCF application (state police) and that it is a uniform process across ALL of PA (preemption)

These sheriffs aren't "bending" the law or making up "policies"

Let there be no mistakes about it. They are breaking the law

I am in the same boat. My CC permit expires next year. I moved to Carbon county from Luzerne about a year ago. My neighbor will be a reference for me but I'm still looking for a second person.

Your reference can be anyone in the world, just not family
Surely you know more than 1 person on the planet earth
