Default Giving consideration to a Charter Arms .40 Pitbull

I ran across this revolver the other day and it seems interesting to me. I like the idea of a revolver that shares the same cartridge as one of my semi's. I've looked at the Taurus .40 revolvers but was not a fan of the moon clips. The Charter Arms has an extractor that doesn't require moon clips.

Does anyone have any experience with this revolver?

Here's a decent review of the Pitbull.

Looks interesting. My phone doesn't see a link to the review in second post though.

I own one. The pros are nice to have a revolver in .40, the quality of the charter arms is good and lifetime warranty, accurate and manageable recoil, and as you mentioned, no need for moon clips. The only con I have is don't expect to load or reload quickly! The system they have to eliminate the need for moonclips requires you to 'tilt' each round as you load. You can't just drop a round in and go. Also, when you eject its rare to eject and get all 5 rounds out at once, a couple always hang up. If quick loading and reloading is not critical for you, it's a great pistol. Feel free to shoot me any questions if you have any.

Thanks - this is the type of info I was looking for. I'll probably take you up on the questions offer.

Shoot me a pm any time. If you're not in a hurry and really want to handle and shoot one - let me know, we're not too far apart.

I threw some wood grips on mine for a while

But despite my love for wood grips, I like the thin stock grips better

Moonclips are the greatest invention since sliced bread, for exactly all the negative reasons that cruzans enumerates in his post. Rapid reloading and positive extraction. What's not to like?

I have one and it shoots great. I've put over 200 round through it without any trouble. Inside of 25 feet it's very accurate. I tried shooting at 2 lt. bottles at 50 yards and hit them some of the time.
It's a nice little stubby once you get the trigger broken in.
