    Default Gunfire Sound Levels

    Found this site: www.freehearingtest.com/hia_gunfirenoise.shtml

You can take a free hearing test and the site also gives dB's for centerfire rifles, handguns and shotguns.

Example: .357 mag dB rating is 165. 2mil seconds of .357 dB is equal to over
40 hours in a noisy work place.

The test is interesting ......I failed the last question - Actually I couldn't
hear it. So, my hearing is not 100%. Wondering how others will do?

    ~GOOD LUCK~

past them all no prob, but my hearing is a little better than average........those are all supposed to be audible to the average human ear. the funnest one i took was the one for the military when you sit in the little booth with the headphones on.............

I passed all three, but in hind sight when I went in to the Air Force at my entry physical and hearing tests the lady asked me "'I bet you can hear a mouse piss on a cotton ball, can't you?"

100% pretty easy. And that's after years of gunfire and machineguns in the Marines and hunting and shooting all my life. Ever run across a guy who can't hear a rattlesnake? Man that's scary when you're jumping out of the way and they're just standing there looking at you wondering what in the heck you're doing.

    Just took the test again.
This time I did hear the last sound. Wonder if drinking beer has anything to do with it. (Did have some the first time)

Rattlesnake----The site does have a list of different sounds you can click on.
    Rattlesnake is one.
