Flintlock anyone?
Who's headed out for flintlock tomorrow? I recently switched from maxiball rounds in my TC hawken 50cal to round ball with a patch. I am please with my accuracy a looking forward to tomorrow.
On the topic of enjoying shooting the flintlock I might take it out when it warms up. I want to work up a load that it is happy with.

Re: Flintlock anyone?
I would love to, but I only got my Hawken a few months ago and took my first shots last weekend. I need a bit more practice with it.
Best of luck to all the flinters.

i'll be taking my flinter to work with me next week to hunt. I use a t/c pennsylvania hunter carbine w/ a 22" bbl. 1-66" twist. I shoot round balls, over 80 gr. of 3-f.

Re: Flintlock anyone?
Not likely this weekend. Hopefully I can get caught enough with work to sneak out a few hours here and there the rest of the season.

Re: Flintlock anyone?
Was planning to until I tore up my shoulder in Nov. and went under the knife last Friday. I was looking forward to hunting with the rifle I won (Traditions Pa. Pellet Flintlock) earlier this year.
Best Wishes to all,
Dale

Re: Flintlock anyone?
Yeah went out during the snow SHOWER we had this morning. Saw 9 deer but none with horns. Not shooting any doe till maybe last day.
Had the most awsome thing happen to me. Had a doe run up a bank directly at me as I stood beside a very large tree. She stopped right beside me so close I could have reached out and pet her. I thought she was gonna finally figure out I was there as she was coming towards me and jump out of her skin. Hell I almost had to pull the barrel of the gun back so she would not run into it. then to have her stop within inches of me was unbelievable. She then turned and went right back down the hill and hooked back up with 2 other doe.
Great day in the woods.Masters Degree from, School of Hardknocks and College of Common Sense

Re: Flintlock anyone?
I was generously loaned a T/C Hawken this past week and took her to the range in the snow this morning. Let's just say that I'm not ready to hit the woods with her. Unless maybe there's a barn hittin contest. Maybe not even then. 6 speed loads later and I basically am not sure I could hit 36" target. Back to range in the morning for me.

Re: Flintlock anyone?
Heavy snow made it difficult to keep dry this morning. I use a calf's knee to cover my lock. I changed my pan powder a bunch. Saw a few doe. I had to cut the day short. Heading back out saturday.

Good luck to all, it's the best time of year to be out in the woods, always enjoyed flintlock season.
