Diary of the Dead quick review
So with Pennsylvania (Specifically Pittsburgh) having lots of roots with zombie movies and especially with gun folk. I couldn't wait to pop this dvd in tonight.
For those that like the new dawn of the dead or '28 days' style zombies, this isn't your flick. These are original slow style zombies.
It's in documentary style, but before you start thinking blair with or cloverfield Romero took a nice approach with it having the cameraman be a film student so the camera work is done pretty well and you aren't having lots of trouble following the action.
From a gun person's point of view there's some major mistakes but we can forgive that for the sake of it being a movie: Most notable things are the handgun they get lasting on one mag for quite some time, some "national guard" guy saying "this is an M-16 semi auto" (how about AR-15?)
I like the slow movers, it's a change of pace.
Im not going to give anything away here, but you're going to LOVE the Amish guy and I think you're going to love the film, I did!

Re: Diary of the Dead quick review
I have the new remake of "Day of the Dead" coming in from Netflix any day now.
I liked the original one, but couldn't quite see the connection of an underground silo in what I thought was Florida - per the 'gator on the streets with the zombies...
The other week the "It's Alive" horror show here in PGH - http://www.theitsaliveshow.com/ - had a taped interview of the mean-ass military commander from the original Day of the Dead - Joe Patrillo??...
What a differance a decade or so can make! He looked/acted like he's been living on a barge in Amsterdam if ya get my drift.

I rented day a week or two back...it was alright, I guess.
Didn't care for the acting, and the plot sucked too.

LOVED IT !
look, I love zombie movies, I dont play this zombie afficianado crap. If people are dying and coming back to life to eat people who die and come back to eat people I am in !
This movie was good Romero zombie fantasticness.
On a side note, the part where the dude comes out with his speal on the "M-16 semi-auto with the safety turned off" right then lil'buck (my 10yo son for those that dont know) yelled out "WHAT?!?!, the people that make these movies dont know anything about guns. mimble mumble semi-auto M-16."
