Was reading an article about movies that bombed.......One of them mentioned was RIPD. After seeing this screenshot I don't think I would watch it for free!

Not really, depends on the context. For instance I liked some of the weapons in Rodriguez's Desperado and From Dusk to Dawn (especially the crotch revolver). They were supposed to be outrageous.


This seems like it is supposed to be a more serious action movie. These props were obviously designed by someone with no knowledge of firearms. An oversized cylinder does nothing with less than a 1 inch barrel (basically just the forcing cone). Not outrageous, just stupid. Can you say muzzle blast?

Really? A "more serious" action movie? The entire premise of the movie is based on supernatural cops who died in the line of duty and "came back to life" in a fashion.

This was, to me, grey comedy. Not light enough to be straight comedy and not dark enough to be truly dark comedy. But with a premise that they are shooting people who are already dead in order to blow them into their permanent oblivion, why on earth (or other world) would you quibble about what second-life firearms look like? The idea is to differentiate them from what live people use. I think that they're meant to be .45 extra-long Colt.
