I only have one P-08 Luger, but it is a great shooter. Accurate, and totally reliable even with hollow points, and my flat point reloads.

Nice little collection of Teutonic steel you have there!

Everytime I see those P8's, it never cease to amaze me how Georg Luger came up with such a complicated internal working of that gun without CAD in 1898!
How the barrel and toggle assembly (both locked together at this point) travel rearward due to recoil after the round is fired. After moving 13 mm rearward, the toggle strikes a cam built into the frame, causing the knee joint to hinge and the toggle and breech assembly to unlock. At this point the barrel impacts the frame and stops its rearward movement, but the toggle assembly continues moving (bending the knee joint) due to momentum, extracting the spent casing from the chamber and ejecting it. The toggle and breech assembly subsequently travel forward under spring tension and the next round from the magazine is loaded into the chamber.

All this happens in fraction of second!
Guy had to be some freaky genius!

I understand that the use the locked breech, short recoil operation JMB came up ultimately proven itself as cheaper, and more dependable system of operation - Specially as a military side arm, but there is something about how those toggle action, and all the things that happens and precision which it required for it to work... just amazing...

the 08s both have interesting back stories.
the leftmost one is a 1911 dwm, that is unit marked....that unit was in wwI. after posting it on the luger boards, some guy in the netherlands posted a picture of one of it's brothers, the serials differed by 8 numbers, also tattooed with the same unit mark.
the refinished 1916 commercial dwm, has some dudes name on the back strap. the smart guys on the luger board found out he was a lt in an arty unit...during wwI, however the pistol came with capture papers from wwII.

Man, there is nothing better than some awesome History/Story to go along with the gun. Very nice pieces.
You may find me dead in a ditch one day. But by God, I'll be lying in a pile of brass.
