Re: Bring back the Political Wasteland
I support bringing back the PW.
Perhaps leave it as an option that can be turned on or off in the user cp, with the default set to off. To turn it on the user has to acknowledge a warning that the only moderation will be to remove illegal content, otherwise no complaints regarding content from the PW will be addressed by the forum staff.

Re: Bring back the Political Wasteland
I came around after the wasteland was taken out. But I have been around forums for a long enough time to see what works and what does not.
I don't understand all the drama and stuff that politics has invaded the whole forum because I looked and couldn't find it. I went and looked through all the subforums just now and people talking about pistols and rifles are doing so in the appropriate forum. People talking reloading and ammo are doing so in that forum. Training and competition talk is going on in that forum. Concealed and open carry people are talking about their issues in that forum. In the "General" forum people are talking about some of the wider issues involving firearms and maybe some of the politics involved with firearms. Etc. Etc.
Looking through all that, in reality from my perspective, the forum is incredibly well organized with little or no political talk going on in any of those subforums and almost the entire forum. Even looking at "The Lounge", a significant amount of the topics don't have anything to do with politics with people talking about everything from snow to cinnamon whiskey to coinstar machines.
So I think it's a dramatic exaggeration that politics is running amok all over the forum and pervading the whole forum.

Re: Bring back the Political Wasteland
unless the staff starts warning/banning people for posting purely political things in the lounge, the PW should probably be brought back.

Re: Bring back the Political Wasteland
Agree with bringing back the PW, with the understanding that there needs to be moderation of course.
I lurked around this forum long before i started posting and that was one of my favorite places check. Firearms, in this day and age, are inherently political. Everything from mental health to freedom of speech and religion can be connected to firearms rights in one way or another.
The same people that engage in political scandals and usurpation are the ones who seek to destroy the 2a as we know it. Limiting our speech on this forum, especially when it some to politics, seems counterproductive to the PAFOA philosophy.

And if I remember right, we aren't supposed to talk about religion either...
