    Default Mentored hunt

Yesterday I spent the first day with my 11-year-old nephew, My brother and I felt he is old enough at 11. We did not see anything all day. I sure wish he had seen one. My brother needed to hunt with the 11-year-olds brother a junior hunter.
The way I look at it I have had 50 first day hunts and taken some pretty nice Deer over the years. I could give a few back. My nephew put a lot of time in at the range over the summer and has become a pretty good shot. We stayed in the stand until just before dark. He thanked me several times threw the day. Not my most exciting hunt but one I will not forget. I am looking forward too the next couple Saturdays in the stand with him.

You are a good uncle and most importantly your nephew will never forget his first hunt.

Thank you it maybe that I am older. I had as much fun watching the determination and patients the little guy had watching for a Deer as I would have hunting. I have shot many Deer over the years, Funny but the deer that stand out now were not shot by me. my wife’s first big buck, my grandsons first buck. So in a way I get as much out of the Mentored hunt as my Nephew. I just know it will be a toss up who has the bigger smile when he dose get one, me or him.

On our way to hunt, my 12 y/o and I were talking about his first buck 2 years ago on a Mentor Tag. I told him it was one of the best days of my life, he agreed it was one of his too. That truly is priceless. Good job on being a good influence and a good uncle.
